About us

Weoley Hill is a membership tennis club which is open to players of all ages and abilities, regardless of ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other belief and particularly encourages family membership. Membership is around 300 split fairly equally between adults and juniors.

We have a very active junior section, with a range of coaching and activities throughout the year organised by our LTA qualified club coaches, Chris Coley and Stacy Tichelly.

For details of how to join see the Membership section of the site.

Facilities

We have 6 astro turf courts, two of which are floodlit. Courts 1 & 2 are accessible to the disabled. The courts are open throughout the year and you do not have to book in advance to play, though matches, coaching and club sessions do take preference. The lock code changing each year on the membership renewal date.

There is room for parking next to the courts at the Weoley Hill Village Hall.

We have a clubroom situated at the rear of the Village Hall, adjacent to the courts, with access to toilet and kitchen facilities when club sessions or coaching are in progress. Though the clubroom itself is too small for social events, the club does run a number of social events, including quiz nights at the nearby cricket club.

Visitors

Members may bring visitors to the courts. There is a maximum of 3 visitors per member on each visit. A visitor is permitted 3 visits per year, after which they must become a member. Visitor fees are adults (over age 18) £2.00 and juniors (under age 18) £1.00. It is the responsibility of the member introducing the visitors to pay the appropriate fees.

Club Sessions

Access to the courts is all year round. Listed below are the standard weekly club activities – see also Social Tennis.

Competitions

The Club is affiliated to the Warwickshire LTA and has Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed Doubles teams, which compete in local leagues.

The Club receives an allocation of Wimbledon Tickets, which are available to members through an annual ballot.

Our Annual Club Championships takes place during the early summer for juniors and in the Autumn for adults, with singles  and doubles events.

Juniors

The Club has a strong junior section with mixed group coaching and individual leesons available from LTA qualified coaches.

Chris Coley, the Club coach, runs a Holiday Club for a number of weeks during the summer holiday period, and also during the Easter holiday and some half term holidays. A wide range of activities is provided, with an outing each Thursday to places such as Drayton Manor Park or the Midlands Safari Park.

Chris coaches in several local Junior and Infant schools and, after children have received a number of taster sessions, those wishing to progress are invited to attend a Mini Tennis Academy. This programme is specifically aimed at Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children, who are afterwards encouraged to join Weoley Hill Tennis Club.
