Playing arrangements

The courts are open throughout the year and you do not have to book in advance to play, though obviously matches, coaching and club sessions will take preference. Rules of play will be provided to members each year. New members are particularly welcome at club sessions.

Competitions

The Club is affiliated to the Warwickshire LTA and has Men's, Ladies' and Mixed Doubles teams, which compete in local leagues.

The Club receives an allocation of Wimbledon Tickets, which are available to members through an annual ballot.

Our Annual Club Championship takes place during the early summer, with singles and doubles events for both adults and juniors, culminating in Finals Day in mid-July. This is a great occasion for all the family, with refreshments provided for sale and other attractions for children.

Social Events

We try to stage a number of mixed American Tournaments during the summer, which are fun events, and where we encourage members of all ages and abilities to take part. The format is such that all stand a chance of winning.

We also try to arrange other social events such as quiz nights, bowling and meals out.

Juniors

The Club has a strong junior section with coaching available from LTA qualified coaches.

A Junior Club is run for children aged from 7 to 14 and all manner of activities are provided. The sessions coincide with the school terms, and take place outside on Friday evenings during the summer term for 1 hour from 6.30 to 7.30 pm. During the autumn and spring terms these take place in the Village Hall.

Children attending the Junior Club must be members of the Tennis Club, and there is a small nominal charge.

Chris Coley, the Club coach, runs a Holiday Club for a number of weeks during the summer holiday period, and also during the Easter holiday and some half term holidays. A wide range of activities is provided, with an outing each Thursday to places such as Drayton Manor Park or the Midlands Safari Park.

Chris coaches in several local Junior and Infant schools and, after children have received a number of taster sessions, those wishing to progress are invited to attend a Mini Tennis Academy at the YMCA Leisure Centre in Northfield (an official Mini Tennis Accredited Centre supported by Warwickshire LTA). This programme is specifically aimed at Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children, who are afterwards encouraged to join Weoley Hill Tennis Club.

Chris also currently organises a Weoley Hill Football Coaching Academy at the Club, using the Village Hall during the autumn and spring terms.
